Jagna, Bohol is home of the 406 martyrs
It is said that during the Philippine-American Wars, specifically on an Easter Sunday in 1901, 406 revolutionaries or guerillas, headed by Capt. Casenas, defended this town . Unfortunately, all perished in the hands of the enemy soldiers.

Putting Can-uba Beach on Blogger Map
Located just along the coastal road on the way to Jagna. One can go for a swim for just 50 pesos rent per cottage. Cheapest, eh. Don't expect much though coz you get your money's worth.
If you don't mind the buses and vans passing by just over your cottage at full speed, you can drop by here anytime.
It is not exactly the white and powdery, sandy beach you have in mind, but more of a pebble-strewn one. But, if you're not too picky and hoping for some nice picnic or outing with your family, this place will do. Wearing two-piece bikinis is not a good idea though.
But I remain hopeful that some investors would build a world class resort in these parts of Bohol. I heard there are other resorts in the area that I have yet to try --- in my next visit.

Vest Pension House,
If you want an affordable but clean place to stay in Bohol, specifically in the capital city of Tagbilaran, turn nowhere else, take a visit to Vest Pension House. It provides standard service to the unassuming travel whether you are a sole traveller, family, or travelling with a group of friends with its accommodations ranging from 1000 pesos - 3000 pesos/night, it is the rate to beat.
If you opt to shy away from the extravagant hotels and resorts and want value for you money, give them a visit. They have their own website too, where you may book you reservations online

Jagna, yummy yummy Calamays
No pics as of this time but will surely post some as soon as I get my hands on this yummy concoction from this lively town of Jagna.
Jagna is Calamay Country! No doubt about that. Calamay is a sweet delicacy made of sticky rice (or malagkit) and dark muscovado sugar bottled in cocoshells that are cleaned till they resemble small balls and lined across with red-colored paper to seal the yummy stuff inside.
If you buy them at Jagna, right in front of their newly-built market, they come cheap at 25 pesos at the least. Vendors can't be missed as they haul baskets of these sweet delicacies as soon as your car/bus/van comes to a stop in these area. They come in different sizes, small, medium, large and also in varieties of plain or with peanuts. I suggest the plain variety...yummY! I can't wait for my next calamay pig-out.
So when you go for a country-side tour of Bohol, make sure you buy these sweet delicacy you'll find nowhere else!
